Jett Kowalchuk is a Métis award-winning filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. After graduating in Creative Technologies at the University of Regina, he specializes in filmmaking, VFX, and digital artwork.
In his studies at the University of Regina, Jett has acquired a comprehensive understanding of the digital media landscape, including visual literacy, graphic design, web design, filmmaking, animation, and AR design. His studies have equipped him with a strong foundation in media culture and strategies, as well as with the technical abilities needed to create short films, art installations, animations and graphics.
Recently, Jett has been working in the Saskatchewan film and television industry, and as a photographer and videographer for his Saskatoon-based media company, Jett Ko Media. Some of Jett’s recent work has explored new ways to create with emerging technologies. This includes projects engaging with augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and mixing 2D and 3D animation. A strong focus in Jett’s work has been the relationship between humanity and technology, reflecting on the history of this relationship, and theorizing on how it will evolve in the future.
